Thing 1 and Thing 2 go on a Zoo adventure

So this past Sunday, Mr. Thing and I took the girls to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo. We got there fairly early in the day, which you would have thought had been a good thing. Sadly, most of the animals were still sleeping or just getting up for their lunch. Out of all the animals, I was really excited for the girls to see the Elephants. This particular Zoo allows the Elephants to come close to the crowd, and we get a chance to touch the trunk. I was really hoping the girls would be able to experience this but the Elephants were both busy eating their lunch.

This trip to the zoo was actually an interesting experience for my husband and I. We decided to leave the stroller in the car and have the girls walk everywhere. We both thought it would be a good experience for the girls. Well, it was an experience all right. Halfway through our trip my back was killing me! At the end of the day, I’m just glad the girls were able to have this experience, they both really enjoyed the trip. The first picture is of Thing 2 with her daddy looking at the fish. She really loved looking at the tank, it made me want to get a fish tank for the house. The picture on the right is of the girls looking at the Sand Cat exhibit. These little cats are so adorable! The girls had so much fun watching the cats dart back and forth.
This photo is of Thing 1 in front of the meerkats. I had asked her if she could see them and she gave me this funny face. I guess she was trying to tell me, “Of course, I can see them silly!”

Here is Thing 1 again, she is trying to touch the Naked Mole Rats, who were also eating their lunch. I think the next time we go to the zoo it will be after 2pm when the animals are finished eating.
In this photo Thing 2 is looking up to me, while Thing 1 is peering in the tank trying to spot a penguin. I had my husband take the picture while I was baby wrangler. As you can see, no penguins! The penguins were nesting, apparently a few babies were born! 🙂 The girls really seemed to like the animals that were up close, so maybe an Aquarium would be a better place to visit next time. I think they would enjoy seeing the otters and fish swim around in their tank.
